This was the first news poster I made for the kids. As you can see, it's quite ambitious. I soon learned that the students were unlikely to understand words like 'combination', and indeed, 'hello'.

This was my second Column, chronicling my journey to Mount Doom, a weird sulphuric swamp near the northern tip of Honshu, where there is a shrine for dead and aborted children.

There is also reference to the Takko Garlic and Beef Festival, Higashi Sports Day at my base school here in Hachinohe, and climbing Mount Hakkoda.

Here is the column I made for the kids in December 2004.

The background is a photo I took when I went to Sendai for the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) and the lyrics to Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer are in the foreground. I had never realised the sentiments of the song before. Cripes!

Here is my column for JAnauary 2005. The photo in the background is from Aoni Onsen, where I went with my parents in blizzard conditions. It was beautiful.
